The S9 mined an entire era — the 2016–2020 workhorse that at its peak WAS the network, and the best-selling ASIC ever made. Today its efficiency is hopeless on any normal power price, and its second life is heat: reflashed with open firmware, underclocked, warming greenhouses and garages that would burn the electricity anyway.
